The art room.

So let me share with you a little thing I encourage in my home...creativity. Not just the pinterest kind ... the simplicity of being inspired and then creating . Making your little world around you scream your initials all over it. Something to call all your own. When it comes to decor, arts n crafts, painting, music making and making anything in our house I want my kids to feel like they have complete freedom to express them self .

“Creativity takes courage. ”

When I was a little girl I watched my grandma sew, garden, spend time with Jesus and cook as if it was nothing to her. Even though their were strict rules in her home she gave me my space my supplies and let me create anything I wanted. She never critiqued me only praised everything for it was my creation. I could tell it gave her joy and now I'm understanding that joy : ) To this day I still remember how special that made me feel and valuable I was to her. As I get older and manage my own home I'm starting to notice how much I reflect my grandma in all her hobbies. (minus the rifle shooting the other day hahha)

Well we do have limits in this home or else mia would have her paintings EVERYWHERE. So I gave her her space to call her own...the laundry room/ "the art room" or as mia refers to it ''the museum" this is the place where my o.c.d. and nit picking is not allowed. When you enter in your required to use your imagination as if you just walked into the art gallery somewhere in west LA. (try not to laugh she's 5 her imagination is out of control.... in the best way of course) This is where she paints and makes. and I love it. It reminds me that its ok to have the mind of a child again. That feeling feels good especially through the busiest time of my life right now. I know one day her imagination will dwindle as she experiences life and I try my very best to intake all of it that I can and enjoy her and them (as jake and obi create one day too). I poke in there from time to time to paint with her. She likes when people join in and paint a page to hang up (although she's very picky of where it goes)

True Story:  Mia ''hired me'' to hang all her pictures on the wall for her (b/c she can't reach) and she even made me sign a contract to do it saying what my job description was and how much I get paid for doing it. I wish I would of kept it to show you but im afraid its somewhere unknown right now : ) clever little girl ; ) she also tried to make our dear friend amy pay for a spot on the wall lol
Welcome to our home.
