The custom of the sibling carries on....

I decided to blog this one out today because well as a mum I want to remember it forever. Jakey has recently been in the prime of his ''terrible 2''s and let me tell you. They are nothing compared to mias.......at all. (wait we're not even suppose to be comparing in the first place... O out loud that is)

I was very proud of him today because sharing is not on his checklist these days. Nor is it in his vocabulary. More like the opposite.... ''MINE!'' to be exact, anyway in the midst of Obi screaming his head off today. Jakey ran off to his room (which is typical) well lo and behold he was holding ''Mr. Zebra'' a very well loved childhood friend mia inherited (from target) at the age of 1. He looked at his screaming little brother and murmured the words "here obi..mr. zebra'' with a smile I have never seen before. I'm almost positive that smile was from the feeling of the famous verse ''its better to give than receive.'' I could not believe what I was seeing.

I'll give you a quick biography of Mr. Zebra

Mia was 1years old when she saw him on a random (non toy shelf ) with my mom at target. She LOVED that zebra and still does to this day. When Jakey was born, and reached his teething stage he was screaming in pain and mia GAVE him Mr. Zebra to comfort him. Which by the way was huge because she loved LOVED that zebra. She told him that he would be comfortable at night, and insisted he stay in Jakes room for now on. Jake has LOVED that zebra to the fullest. He still sleeps with Mr. Zebra every night.

This zebra has seen it all. The good days, and the bad days. He's been filthy, clean, dressed, pampered, bathed, fed, put to sleep, invited to wrestling matches, tea parties, voted for president, wiped tears away, you name he's done it either in this reality or in a child's mind. So for Jake to pass on the tradition and GIVE Mr. Zebra a new bed to sleep in is huge for him especially right now. They have a little sibling custom going on hahah and as a mother ( get ready for sappy mom moment.....
I treasure these things in my heart. These are the moments I put in my minds memory box and tuck away for someday to remember and cry : ) These are what they spoke of. Why they cry at graduations. Why they don't want you to drive, or come home late. This must be why they get so excited for ''someday grandchildren'' because they get to watch these moments all over again.

Then my heart whispered........ I love being a mother.
