WHAT IS THE "BEHIND THE SCENES" LINK UP?
Social media and online relationships can make us feel like everyone else has it all together. We're edited, proof-read, Pinterest-perfect versions of ourselves (or so some might think!) when - in reality? There is an unfinished pile of laundry around the corner. That cute toddler smiling for the camera just had a massive meltdown seconds ago. That yummy breakfast-for-dinner you just showed us on Instagram? It's because the cat licked the chicken that was supposed to be for dinner.
"Behind the Scenes" is a fun link up where we show those photos - but tell the real story behind them. The sneak peek behind the scenes, a look past the edges of the photo to the real life behind it.
I thought this was pretty good link up to do : )
If you haven't known us long you would see this picture and say ''awww thats a happy couple'' I know b/c I hear it all the time. Grateful for the comments and Yes we are very happy, but We've also come V E R Y far from where we begun.
Yesterday October 9th, marks a very special date in our lives. That was our high school anniversary you know the one date you write on your notebooks with a heart around it and celebrate your months together. That one! We obviously don't celebrate that anniversary anymore because we have a new one but, when you've been with someone for so long you don't forget those dates. We definitely were not your typical high school sweet hearts (as most can testify)....far from it. We were toxic, unhealthy and no one supported our relationship. Became parents @ the peek of our hatred towards each other and always tried to ''work it out'' only to just hide and tuck away all the bitter wounds and hateful words yet could never let the other be happy.....toxic is actually probably an understatement.
Do you have a guilty pleasure show? well I do (hand raised) Teen Mom. Not so much now but when the first season of girls came out (16 and pregnant)..I was all about it.I had just had Mia and was living that exact life. Even though we were out of high school and thank God not 16 we felt the pressure of being inadequate parents. Freshly graduated and enrolled in college with a party mentality with no real responsibilities. Then they handed us a baby............HA right!
I felt like those cameras could have followed me around and it wouldn't have been any different. We would even watch the show together sometimes when Michael would come over for a visit and just shake our heads b/c that drama and those arguments were all too familiar to us. Well all that to say yesterday we looked at that calendar smiled and laughed at our 19 year old selves and the years spent together. Some good, some bad, and all the in betweens.
Jesus can and did! thats my answer to any of your questions. Honestly we reflect a lot on how we see each other completely different now and we have heavy hearts for the millions of couples striving to parent and ''work things out'' feel free to message me anytime...I mean that with all my heart we would love to talk with you and share our story with you : )
We just celebrated that baby's 6th birthday and never ever thought we would be ''here'' statistically we're not suppose to be, but there are no statistics in our Bible.
Much Love
-Jenny B
